Where to base a golf trip

Both courses are on the north-west coast, but not every golfer should sleep there. Three areas compared by distance to the first tee, beach, food and what a non-golfer can do.

Where no reliable figure exists, the drive time goes into your quote instead of onto this page.

Which base for which trip

Two or more rounds at Vinpearl

Sleep at Bai Dai or Ganh Dau. The clubhouse is on the same stretch, and the safari and theme park fill non-golf afternoons. Bai Dai and Ganh Dau.

Eschuri, or both courses

Sleep at Vung Bau or Ong Lang. Vung Bau lies between Ong Lang and Bai Dai, so both clubs are within reach of one hotel. Vung Bau and Cua Can.

One round, or a partner who wants town

Sleep on Long Beach near Duong Dong. The golf drive is longer, the restaurants and airport closer. Duong Dong and Long Beach.

The whole island in four lines

Phu Quoc is a special zone (đặc khu) of An Giang province since 1 July 2025, about 589 km² including its islets. The island runs about 50 km north to south. Duong Dong, the main town, is on the west coast; the airport is about 10 km south of it; Bai Vong port, where ferries from the mainland arrive, is on the east coast near Ham Ninh.

The north is forest: Phu Quoc National Park covers more than 31,000 ha. Both golf courses sit on the north-west coast between that forest and the sea. The south, around An Thoi, Bai Khem and Sunset Town, is where the cable car to Hon Thom starts and where many large resorts are, a long way from either first tee.

Weather is not the same on every coast

In the dry season, November to April, the north-east monsoon keeps the west coast, including Bai Dai, Vung Bau and Long Beach, calm and clear. In the rainy season the south-west monsoon brings bigger waves and murkier water to the west coast, while east-coast beaches such as Bai Sao become the calm ones. For golf the course is the same either way; for a beach day it matters which coast your hotel faces.

Areas we do not base golfers in

We do not put golf packages in the south of the island or on the east coast. Both are fine places to stay; they are simply far from both courses. If you are already booked there, the single round with transfers is the product for you.
